Area cheer squads compete at UIL State Spirit Championships


Three Cooke County high school cheerleading squads competed this week at the UIL State Spirit Championships held at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth.

The cheer teams competed in three categories: crowd leading, fight song and band dance. The Lindsay High School varsity cheerleaders placed fourth in the state in Class 2A.

They were 11th after the morning preliminary round but scored well in the evening final competition to record the best finish in school history.

Lindsay cheerleaders include captains Logan Martin and Kathryn Worth, along with Mia Hweidi, Hunter Wolf, Lauren Colwell, Kylee Fleitman, Avery Hughes, Shelby Lawson, Macey Ott, Rachel Metzler and mascot Stephen Fuhrmann.

Muenster High School placed 5th in Class 2A and won the state championship in 2A in the crowd leading competition. Muenster did very well in the preliminary round, finishing fourth.

Muenster cheerleaders include captain Cydney Cromer, Shae Budish, Chloe Hacker, Kelsey Hennigan, Bayley Otto, Haley Flusche, Hillary Klement, Landri Richardson, Erica Endres, Whitley Klement and mascot Katherine Klement.

Callisburg's varsity cheer squad competed in Class 3A.
